Yeah, they set it up so that we can use nodes.  They pretty much allow a ton of very cool things, but don't worry about learning it all at once.  You can still apply materials and then go in and take a look at how things are set.  You're a very capable person.  I'm certain you can do whatever crosses your mind.

Thanks!  Yes, I can but there should at least be some visibility on the BI shader info.  This would help greatly when creating the nodes.  Or better yet a conversion process (well technically there is one but it does not do multiple images assigned to the same material slot.)

I hear you, my friend.  What the development team could use, is you!  You know what the software can do, and you know what users want!  I also agree with your observations.  I haven't moved on to the latest version yet.

Got a copy of Max 9 working once again, and I'm beginning with the rebuild I've been wanting to do since 2009: the USS Buccaneer, a project I slapped together in haste as a present for my brother in law. I'm going to include the original image and the progress I've made thus far. If anyone knows if I can hijack materials from other files in Max 9, please let me know. Might save some time in getting this BEAST of a ship built.

Hey, Peeps.
It's been a rough couple of months for me, and this has been the reason I have not been here for a while.
Back in March the contract I was working on was cut from under my company. Which meant that I was a risk of Redundancy. The company I was for could not give us a lot of information at first as they were in the dark as much as we were in, as to why the contact was cut and how long we had until we had to get off the customer premises of where I work.
We got told that the contract has been extended until the end of August but over the half the workload would no longer be required. Which meant that Redundancy was still and issue, those that survive the redundancy would be moved to other positions in the company, but none of them in London.
With the stress of all of this and Covid. I was in no mood to do anything like drawing or 3D.
Luckily for me I got offered a job on a different contact with the same company and at the same customer location. I have taken this Job, but it is a completely different job to what I did before. So I had to get myself up to speed and learn what I needed to know to do it.

I am now at the point where I can sit down and do some 3d and 2d art. However with the new job. I don't have as much time as I use to. So it might be a while until you see an output from me.
