thanks guys.

// i had to post that where it would get more appreciation.

trying manual re-topo around booleans works better is an imposed grid it seems vs the star/fan pattern I did on the top side

scifidude79

That looks nice. Are you trying to get nicer topography for doing panel lines? That can be a chore sometimes.

And, yes, Cheers was totally a holoceck program. ;) I (of course) knew about Kirstie Alley and Kelsey Grammar, but I didn't realize that so many other Star Trek actors had done Cheers. (including two main ones) But then, I never really watched it. Hell, Star Trek II was Kirstie Alley's first feature film. She's only got one IMDb credit before that, a guest appearance on a TV show in the '70s. By the way, the show was called "Quark." Coincidence? I think not. ;)

Nice work, Scott.

And Chris, oh man, I loved Quark!  I have the DVD set.  I think I'm one of about 5 people who watched that show.

"What are you doing?"
"Pollinating!"

Yeah, I never knew Quark was a thing. Well, except for the Ferengi bar owner. ;)

scifidude79

I'm sorry to hear things are going badly for you, Scott. :(

I've lost count of the number of times where I've been in that funk where you open the software, don't do anything and then eventually close it again.

I'm sorry to hear it, Scott.  You're a talented fellow.  But, I know what you mean.  I haven't been able to turn out any work of late.  I open Blender, stare at it or get a call from work and just close the thing.

Been crazy busy lately but I did recently get a new toy...

I've been experimenting with printing some models I found on thingiverse.

Got a lot more learning to do, if I can get some time I'm hoping to go through some of my old models and see if anything is printable.

Ozylot, that is truly spectacular!

Please keep showing what you do here!  I would love to see what you make.

Thanks!

It's amazing what you can learn when getting into 3d printing that I never realized. I used to think it was kinda like an easy button and all done.

There are a ton of different settings that all affect a different quality in the print. And every shape sometimes requires different settings again.

That is very interesting.  It wouldn't have occurred to me!

Pretty cool Ozy.  I boought a 3D printer to do the same type of thing.  Although I was getting pretty good results with my Ender 3, I found most of my models didn't work.  They were built to look good on screen and weren't watertight for 3D printing.  Wasn't about to re-model my meshes again, so now my son has the printer.  Wish you the best of luck.
