I made certain that tracking me would be a PITA; I have 5 addresses now, and the one I'm using was exclusive a game account. Still waiting to get a new computer, if you're tracking me on FB, and the model I'm after is about $800.00. However, it is geared for that kind of work, and my brother in law has secured another copy of Max, so I'll be back with a crazed vendetta once I have the software installed.

I've got some PHP to run that MIGHT restore part of the old forum.  But from what I've read, I'm not too hopeful.  I will try this weekend.

I'll give it my best try.  I have to place some PHP files, note where my old database is, then run the files and keep my fingers crossed.

Yeah took me a while to realize it was the software giving the "account is suspended" due to Vb urls and not the hoster suspending the server account.

I have only the new posts link active in the tab. So some might not know the site is back. I originally saw strange things like the php pages wanting to "SAVE" vs just opening in client.
SMF needs a new posts link but so far the "recent unread topics" url seems to be doing it for my needs.


Also anyone know what those buttons on the bottom of the posts are for? See attached image as one is lit up from me hovering over it. Seem truncated, so maybe what they are is below whatever cutoff is blocking or overlaying them.

also any way to disable the email icon? or is this just because it is me that I see it. Do not need my account filling with spambots.

Oh wow!  You've given me a lot to think about and research.

I don't have those buttons on the bottom of my posts.  I have buttons for Facebook and Twitter!

I will have to look into disabling the email button.  I didn't even THINK about that.

yeah I think those are what they are just for me they show up as cut off so it is just little hover light up rectangles. Tried clicking on them but nothing happens so eh "shrug" Not that I use twitter anymore and I will never use facebook so no loss.

I tried to find something yesterday to disable the email button.  The only thing I can think of is to make the email address in your profile "bogus".  I will keep looking.

I honestly did not know that.  I presume that the team at Simple Machine Forums or perhaps the team that created this theme used Google scripting.

Seems like it is using it for the interface for the forum. It is only a single script of java.

atm really it just means if google has any issues so will the site. It just did not make much sense to have it so reliant on a outside resource.

also noticed the site is now saving drafts (annoying feature) even though I have this turned off. Example I just had to delete 5 of them even though all but one were of posts I had already made. In time it might become a database overhead for the site. At least you are able to hide the notifications.

Dan after the site came back. I hit "Save Draft" by mistake. I got a message saying that the draft would be deleted after 24 hours if not posted. Sure enough it was.
