thanks, I'm getting the HDRI setup and some better lighting in-game now.

Holy moley!  That looks REMARKABLE!

Spectacular work, my friend!

Thanks .

I should really make a new thread, n not spam this one LOL

I made a blocky fighter, again mostly with procedural mesh manipulators LOL

this would be a heavy fighter, small crew. possibly chipping at the heels of a corvette size ship.
but the texture kind of controls the sense of scale. I could scale the mesh down and redo texture alignment mak it very much a 4 person fighter or bomber size rig.

Wow!  That's an impressive design!

Lately I have been making use of JSplacement ...

https://windmillart.net/?p=jsplacement

Its worth a look . It generates various types of height / displacement maps in 8k.
Some of you probably have used it by now .
I tend to mix it up with my own other tools and filters.

Have a play if you have not yet , especially if you build stuff for the original universe type ships .

using displacement as a material on ship surfaces to instantly get greebles.

examples of results with some tinkering.

height maps/detail maps

use how ya like just dont sell em as is.

scifieric

Thanks for the software link!  I'll check that out.

And your bump maps are insane!  They look like cities!

LOL they doo ..

so i tried something .

I'm not at home ( working ) ,  so i cant blast it as a displacement map in cycles but this should
make a city if you make a high poly plane with a displacement modifier .

I had to .jpg it so it gained extra noise and might not be teh leanest height map to us e.. but shoudl result is a sci fi city .
if you use one of the other two textures as a triplaner texture it shoudl let you make a mega city .
I'm so gonna try this when i get home .

Prime_8

this one is not a height map realy but coudl be .

i think teh proceduar roads look better .

again you can use it as a detail texture and have panels or roads or whatever you think they are .

i attached an example from last night what using one of these can do/look like if used as micro greebs . oh and that's a game engine, not even a blender render .

Prime_8

so here same mesh 2 shots , 3 dif textures & material mixes .

you can get 3 very different feelings about the ship , ready , under construction or repairs  , and rundown possibly almost derelict-ish  .

Again no geometry was harmed , and this is live game engine screen caps.

I think i could plug the same HDRI into blender and do same in evee.

My friend, you are BRIGHT and TALENTED!  You should be doing this stuff for a living!

Wonderful!

LOL I don't think to live.

I was playing with Blender today.

I made 100% procedural earthlike. It's all shaders.

I found out blender can export/render out equiangular HDRI / skymaps. This mean si can export space backgrounds for my game with great details and lighting.
I just have to build them in Blender first .

Prime_8

also not sure if you know this but if you ever want a quick start BG for a test render ..

I absolutely DO think you could do this for a living.  I think you have the talent.

You are an impressive artist, my friend.

Cool!  Thank you!

LOL  you gona make me blush.

I got a chance to try that texture as a city idea you had with the heightmap in blender,

I attached the scene cap, it works in evee or cycles.

I think if I was careful I could ma the 8 other side tiles but I think this makes a pretty OK cyber city ?

Its only 4k texture if I use dteh 8k it would have more detail IMO
