Modeling is essentially the same as Lightwave, only with minor differences.

One of the things I do is make mixed materials.  For whatever reason, mixed materials seem to look a lot more real.

Another one for fun.  I still need to make a "real" TOS planet one of these days.

Making a TOS planet, can't be that hard. You just drop the transpancy of the atmosphere and it colour.

I set up some mixed materials before I rendered. A mix of gloss and diffuse, just a 50/50 mix. Gloss helps you identify any "weirdness" in your mesh. I have some ugly bits that show up in the 3D view, but I learned ages ago not to go by that. None of it shows up in the renders.

I plan to get back to work on the ship this weekend. Though, Shaw keeps posting pics of his TOS Enterprise that make me kind of want to build one.

Man, Bill Gates is stepping it up. A few months ago, he e-mailed me offering a gift of $5 million. I didn't jump on that, though I don't know why. Now I get one offering me $10 million. I don't know how I could possibly pass this up.

More dorking around. I'm not quite ready to call this a full fledged WIP yet, as I have a bad habit of working on something for 5 minutes and then stopping it 5 minutes later. I don't know where that tendency came from, but it seems to be a trend with me lately.

Anyway, I got the pylons where I want them. It took a few tries to get that shape exactly how I wanted it. The general idea is that they're a blend of Enterprise-A, Excelsior and Enterprise-C.
