Title: S'winder hopper twins
Post by: Smallworld on May 21, 2019, 12:51 pm

Hi guys,
I'm actually working on two project hoppers at the minute, this pair and a transport, all single engine ships that fit into a small hanger. Will park the transport for a bit and concentrate on these. They are obviously closely related. On the left is the Sidewinder, which is a ground attack snd troop support ship. On the right is a scount / recon ship I'm calling Sightwinder. It can carry four crew if needed and is also armed. As I mentioned on the Swift thread a single swivelling engine is a tough thing to design around and still get everyting to balance. I went for an assymetrical layout here. I have carefully balanced the volumes and areas so that they should more or less be able to hover and still fly in a straight line. The Germans did a lot of work on assymetrical aircraft during the war and its not as nuts as it looks believe it or not :)
I'm really enjoying doing something different and left field. Effectivly they are assymetric staggerwing bi-plane space hoppers.
